La., Baton Rouge make Site Selection list

The Advocate – Louisiana ranked ninth on Site Selection magazine’s annual rankings of expanding and new projects in 2014.

At the same time, Baton Rouge was tied for second among metro areas with a population of between 200,000 to 1 million. In 2014, 38 companies expanded or located to metro Baton Rouge, a performance that tied with Dayton, Ohio. Greensboro-High Point, North Carolina topped the list with 41 expansion and relocations.

Louisiana had 200 projects. A year ago, Louisiana ranked No. 11. In the 2014 list, Texas was tops with 689 projects, followed by Ohio, 582; Illinois, 394; North Carolina, 313; and Georgia, 311.

Louisiana ranked No. 3 based on projects per 1 million population. Only Kentucky and Ohio ranked higher.
